German Energy Agency ( dena ), German Association for Gas and Water (DVGW) and the Zukunft Erdgas (Future Gas) industry initiative agreed to set up an LNG task force.
The aim of the joint project is to develop the foundations for the use of liquefied natural gas as fuel in the German market, a joint statement reveals.
LNG task force members plan to jointly work on removing the market barriers, introduce policy recommendations, develop standards and norms and initiate new projects.
The group said it also aims to implement minimum infrastructure and provide information about national LNG activities.
So far, Germany missed a national competence group which is due to change through task force that is supported by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI).
BMVI’s Norbert Barthle said the Federal Government’s goal is to accelerate the entry of LNG as fuel in the heavy-haul market.
As a first step, the task force partners will develop recommendations for action on behalf of BMVI while in the second step the group will turn to the market players in the area of LNG supply, infrastructure, logistics and equipment in order to arrange the next steps in the introduction of LNG as fuel.
