Australian LNG player Santos on Friday informed that the newly elected managing director and chief executive officer Kevin Gallagher is set to take his post on February 1, 2016.

Santos appointed the current chief of engineering company Clough as its new managing director and CEO early November, following the resignation of David Knox.

David Knox will remain in his role responsible to the board for all of the company’s operations and projects and will work with Santos executive chairman, Peter Coates to ensure a “smooth” transition to Gallagher, Santos said.

The decision to replace the managing director and CEO of the company came after a full strategic review by Santos’ board as the company suffered an 82 percent in profit in the first half of this year.
