New Zealand dredging contractor, Heron Construction Co Ltd. celebrated last Friday, December 4th, a keel-laying ceremony for the new dredger that is being built in China.

The dipperdredger is under construction at Qinhuangdao China Harbor Shipbuilding Industry Co. and is expected to be ready for transport to New Zealand by the summer of 2016 where she will be fitted out.

The pontoon, a ‘Donge Flushing Shipyard’ B-Type Dipperdredger, will have the first purpose built Liebherr P9150 excavator installed on it.

The Liebherr P9150 will be fitted with the latest Seatools DredgeMate system, a visualization and registration systems designed to enhance the operational and safety performance of any dredging task.
