Global Marine Systems Limited, the UK-based company specializing in subsea cable route design, installation and maintenance, has launched a free augmented reality app.

The GMSL app shows 3D models overlaying static images in real-time via the camera view of either a smartphone or tablet.

Users can take a 3D tour of installation vessel C.S. Sovereign or the Q1000 ROV. Alternatively, they can switch to X-Ray View to read more information about each key feature of the two by pressing the hotspots shown in the 3D image.

The app is available for free download from the App Store or Google play, by searching ‘GMSL’.
