Statoil has received an approval from the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority to perform modifications necessary for a tie-in of the Kristin and Tyrihans fields with the Wintershall operated Maria field, in the Norwegian Sea.
Kristin is the Statoil-operated gas condensate field at Haltenbanken (also known as Halten Terrace) in the Norwegian Sea. The field has been developed using a subsea template tied back to a semi-submersible processing platform.
Statoil was authorized to conduct the modifications necessary to allow the Maria field to be tied to the Kristin platform.
According to the safety authority, the modifications will also include equipment on the Kristin platform used for the tie-in of oil and gas from the Tyrihans field.
Under the previously approved development solution, the Maria reservoir will be linked via a subsea tieback to the Kristin, Heidrun and Åsgard B production platforms.
The Maria well stream will go to the Kristin platform for processing while supply of water for injection into the reservoir will come from the Heidrun platform and lift gas will be provided from Åsgard B via the Tyrihans D field subsea template.
Processed oil will be shipped to the Åsgard field for storage and offloading to shuttle tankers. Gas will be exported via the Åsgard Transport System to Kårstø.
The Maria field is located approximately 20 kilometres east of the Kristin field and about 45 kilometres south of the Heidrun field in the Halten Terrace in the Norwegian Sea.
