The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, is initiating a Feasibility Study and Environmental Impact Statement concerning navigational improvements to Manatee Harbor in Manatee County, Florida.
Alternatives to be considered include deepening up to minus 43 feet, and lesser increments will also be considered. Widening the channel will also be evaluated.
The dredged material is expected to be suitable for placement in the Tampa Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site; however, alternative placement sites will be evaluated.
Some material may be suitable for placement in dredged holes and for other environmental purposes.
A public scoping meeting will be held on January 20, 2015, at the Port Manatee lntermodal Center from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
