The Tsawwassen First Nation members voted against the proposed LNG export facility on its lands in British Columbia.
74 members voted against the concept developed by a joint venture that includes FortisBC LNG Development while 65 votes were in favour, TFN said in a statement on Thursday.
The concept revealed by Tsawwassen First Nation chief Bryce Williams in November was for a facility that would produce three to five million tonnes of LNG annually.
Williams said that as a result of the vote, the First Nation will not pursue any additional discussion regarding the proposed LNG concept.
