Waves4Power, together with Olympic Shipping and Fosnavaag Ocean Academy (Fosac), has received funding from GCE BLUE Maritime Innovation Grant for the development of deployment technique for Waves4Power’s wave energy project.

The grant in the amount of NOK 300,000 ($34,000) will be used to develop programs to simulate launch, service operations, and develop the logistics around the handling of Wave4Power’s WaveEL wave energy system in the marine environment.

Fosac is a simulator facility in Fosnavåg, Norway, capable of simulating real operations as well as the layout of the ships and equipment involved, Waves4Power states.

As reported earlier, another grant from the Swedish Energy Agency was approved for the cable research project related to WaveEL wave energy device.

Sweden-based wave energy developer, Waves4Power, plans to deploy its point absorber full scale WaveEL device at Runde test site, off Norway, in 2016.

The aims of this deployment are to demonstrate survivability, energy production and to give potential customers an opportunity to evaluate the system performance in a challenging wave climate.
