Dutch firm Huisman has marked the start of construction of the new pipelay system for COOEC, a subsidiary of CNOOC, by holding a steel cutting ceremony at its facility in China.
It is a 325mt vertical lay system (VLS) for flexible pipe, and it will be the first ever operated and owned by a Chinese company.
“The 325mt VLS is the first step to pipe flex-lay in deep sea, which is a significant milestone in realisation of the strategy of CNOOC Secondary Leap,” says Ding Donghua , representative of CNOOC.
The tower will be set up onboard the vessel Hai Yang Shi You 286 (HYSY286). For this vessel, Huisman also supplied a 400mt deep water mast crane.
The HYSY286 is an ST-263 multi purpose offshore construction vessel, developed by Skipsteknisk in cooperation with COOEC. It has an overall length of 140.75 meters, moulded breath of 29 meters and a depth of 12.8 meters, a working deck of about 1900 sq.m, accommodation for 150 person and is fitted with a helicopter deck for S92.
