The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority has found safety non-conformities on the Wintershall-operated Brage field situated east of Oseberg field in the northern part of the North Sea.
The goal of the audit was to determine whether the operator, drilling contractor and well service companies are meeting statutory regulations and the company’s internal requirements.
The audit identified non-conformities related to the election of safety representatives, chemical working environment, maintenance and emergency pumps.
PSA further said that Wintershall should look into certain improvement points that, among others, include the training of personnel, drilling program and schedule, and well control and integrity.
Wintershall has been given a deadline of January 25, 2016 to report on how the non-conformities and improvement points will be dealt with.
Brage has been developed using a fixed, integrated production, drilling and accommodation platform with a steel jacket. It is Wintershall Norge’s first operated production field located on Blocks 30/6, 31/4, and 31/7, east of Oseberg and 125 kilometers west of Bergen. The water depth is 140 meters.
The first oil on Brage was produced as early as 1993 and the field was then operated by Hydro. Statoil was the operator from 2009 until Wintershall took over in October 2013.
