Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG project that is close to shipping its first cargo moved ahead with an order for the equipment needed for the Stage 3 expansion project.
Stage 3 expansion entails the construction of the fifth liquefaction train at the Sabine Pass LNG terminal, and according to a statement issued on Tuesday, California-based Gas Land received an order from Bechtel to provide the nitrogen generation systems for the train 5.
Gas Land also provided the systems for the first four trains, first of which began production, according to media reports.
As revealed on Tuesday, Bloomberg cited Richard Ennis, head of natural resources at ING, one of the project’s financiers, saying that the Sabine Pass facility is receiving about 50 million cubic feet of feed gas per day, liquefying it and getting it ready for export.
He noted that the project is on schedule to deliver the first cargo by the end of the month when the facility’s storage tanks should have enough LNG in them to load a carrier.
