Prosafe, an owner and operator of semi-sub accommodation vessels, has re-established the main tow for its flotel Safe Bristolia in the North Sea.

The tow line was re-established on Friday, January 8, 2016, and the Safe Bristolia has reassumed the tow at midnight.

The Safe Bristolia was being relocated from England to Poland when the towing line connecting it to a tug vessel Sea Lynx parted on January 3 leaving it adrift in the North Sea. At the time of the incident, 33 people were aboard the semi-submersible accommodation rig.

The vessel was in open water in Scotland, with no imminent dangers, and holding position after its captain deployed an anchor on January 5, but the owner of the vessel had to wait for the weather to improve to try and re-establish the tow.

The Safe Bristolia was built in 1983 to a Sedco 602 design and converted to an accommodation vessel in 2006. Further refit and modification works were completed in 2008 to meet UKCS regulations for operations in the UK North Sea. It offers accommodation for 316 (UKCS) to 588 persons.
