The Acta Orion, the latest addition to Acta Marine’s fleet of Wind Farm Support Vessels (WFSVs), has started its work on the Gemini wind farm project, located in the Dutch part of the North Sea.
The main role of the Acta Orion is to provide support during the construction phase of the offshore wind farm. Currently, the Acta Orion is actively involved in the further installation of the infield cables and the large substation of the wind farm.
Acta Orion is a DP2 WFSV, 108 meters long and 16 meters wide, capable of accommodating up to 80 passengers.
Gemini will be one of world’s largest wind farms in terms of capacity, size and production, producing renewable energy for about 1.5 million people. This is equal to the total number of people living in the three northernmost provinces in the Netherlands.
