Goodtech, an engineering company from Norway, has won a contract with Teekay Offshore for the FPSO Petrojarl I bound for Atlanta field, in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil.
The work will be performed by Goodtech’s Projects & Services business area that provides technical solutions in the fields of automation, electrics and power technology.
According to the company’s Oslo Stock Exchange announcement on Thursday, Goodtech will be in charge of upgrading safety and automation systems for FPSO Petrojarl I that will be used on the Atlanta field, located 185 km from the coast of Brazil, at a water depth of approximately 1,550 meters.
“Investments in oil and gas are limited nowadays, and it is therefore very important for us to enter into new large contracts,” said Magne Reierson , Executive Vice President at Goodtech Projects & Services.
The project will start immediately and it will be completed in 2016.
A consortium led by Queiroz Galvão Exploração e Produção SA (QGEP) acquired the FPSO Petrojarl I from Teekay in December 2014 for $57 million after which it was planned for it to undergo upgrades at Damen Shipyard Group’s DSR Schiedam Shipyard in the Netherlands for a fully built-up cost of approximately $240 million.
The FPSO is scheduled to start operations in the first half of 2016 under a five-year charter contract with QGEP.
