Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard, part of United Shipbuilding Corporation, held today the launching ceremony for the 1000 m³ trailing suction hopper dredger ‘Sommers’.
The dredger comes as the first in a series of three TSHD 1000 vessels that the shipyard is building for FSUE Rosmorport.
The TSHD 1000 was designed by Damen Shipyards Gorinchem and working design documentation was provided by the Volga-Caspian Design Bureau.
Rosmorport and Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard signed the contract for this dredger in April 2014 and the keel laying ceremony was held in November 2014.
The newbuilds, to be equipped with the necessary equipment suitable for the climatic conditions of the region, will be stationed at seaports of Ust-Luga, Big Port St. Petersburg and Port of Tuapse.
All three vessels will have an outboard multifunctional submersible groundwater pump type “DOP 200”.

Delivery of the three THSDs, (Sommers, Kronshlot and Kadosh) has been set for 2016 and 2017, respectively.
