The Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders, Alaimo Engineering has been awarded a $260,000 contract to begin design and engineering work for the renovations at the Garret Mountain Reservation.

Last June, the county was awarded a $1.3 million grant from the New Jersey State Green Acres Program to install new ADA-compliant restroom facilities, pavilions, improvements to the auto-overlook, and the dredging of the Barbour Pond.

“ The award of this design contract is the first steps towards vital improvements to the Garret Mountain Reservation. This investment by the Freeholders and State of New Jersey will protect and preserve Garret Mountain for generations to come ,” said Freeholder Director Theodore “TJ” Best.

Overall, the total cost of the project will be approximately $2.9 million providing needed infrastructure repairs at the county’s most heavily used park that traverses over 568 acres in Woodland Park and the City of Paterson.
