The Marine Renewables Business Park (MRBP) in Hayle, created to strengthen Cornwall’s growing marine renewables sector, will be officially opened tomorrow, February 12, 2016.

MRBP offers 2,500 sq metres of managed workspace including a two storey modern office building comprising seven offices designed to accommodate companies in the growing marine energy sector.

It is built on the site of a former coal-fired power station at North Quay in Hayle, and the project is expected to create around 120 new jobs, according to the Cornwall Council.

John Pollard , Councillor for Hayle North and Leader of Cornwall Council, said: “The opening of the Hayle MRBP marks an important step in the development of the marine renewable sector in Cornwall. I am delighted that Hayle continues to play such a prominent role in this industry and this facility enhances future employment potential based on the Wave Hub offshore.”

Hayle MRBP has been developed as part of a collaborate package of investment in Hayle Harbour and North Quay, with £11.6 million of funding from the ERDF, an £8 million investment by Cornwall Council, and £4.25 million from the Department for Business Innovation and Skills, and the Department for Energy and Climate Change.

The project is being managed by the Cornwall Development Company, the economic development company of Cornwall Council.
