Cutting of the first steel plate for the new 3.500 m3 trailing suction hopper dredger “Minerva” for DEME took place at MTG Dolphin in Varna, Bulgaria on February 4, 2016.

The dredger will be built again in cooperation with Royal IHC, the company specialized in construction of efficient dredging and mining vessels and equipment.

The Minerva will use the “dual fuel” technology for the main engines, capable of using either liquefied natural gas (LNG) or conventional marine fuels.

This vessel will be equipped with 80 cm suction tube, suitable for dredging to a depth of 30 m. The dredged material will be discharged through three bottom doors to a floating line or rainbow nozzle.
