The FSRU Independence, serving as Lithuania’s LNG import terminal, has on Tuesday received a cargo of liquefied natural gas from Statoil’s Hammerfest facility on Melkoya island.
All previous deliveries to Lithuania’s LNG terminal were strictly for Litgas, part of the Lietuvos Energija, however, the recent cargo, delivered aboard the 155,000 cubic meters Arctic Aurora, will be split between Litgas, Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas (LDT) and Achema.
LDT recently signed a deal to buy LNG from Norwegian energy giant Statoil. Under the deal, LDT will be purchasing liquefied natural gas from Statoil until October this year in order to cover half of its gas demand, around 300 million cubic meters.
Shipping data shows the Arctic Aurora currently docked by the FSRU Independence at the port of Klaipeda.
