Peru’s only liquefied natural gas export facility at Pampa Melchorita stopped exporting LNG in mid-January due to a leak in its 560-km long feeder pipeline.
Sources told Reuters the pipeline leak halted LNG exports which were additionally delayed due to maintenance works at the plant after the pipeline was repaired.
The last cargo departed from the facility on January 16 and headed for Spain.
The 4.4 mtpa liquefaction plant that exports mostly to Mexico also consists of two storage tanks, each with a capacity of 130,000 cubic meters of LNG, a marine terminal and a supply pipeline.
The LNG plant is owned by Peru LNG, a company sponsored by Hunt Oil Company, SK Innovation, Shell and Marubeni.
With the pipeline being repaired and causes of the leak investigated, exports from the liquefaction plant are set to restart in the coming days.
