In December 2015, ORE Catapult acquired the 7MW demonstration offshore wind turbine from Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), and then awarded SgurrEnergy with an O&M contract.

The 7MW turbine was installed 50m off the East Fife coast in 2013 for testing related to type certification. ORE Catapult will use the turbine for research and development purposes.
