Houston-based LNG player Cheniere said that its former CEO Charif Souki has resigned from the company’s board.

Souki notified Cheniere’s board on February 12 that he was resigning as a member of the board, effective immediately, Cheniere said in a filing with the U.S. SEC.

Cheniere in December replaced Souki, the co-founder of the company and former chairman, president and CEO, with Neal A. Shear as interim president.

Andrea Botta has replaced Souki as chairman of Cheniere’s board of directors

Souki, who served Cheniere for 19 years, was replaced just after billionaire investor Carl Icahn upped his stake in the company to 13.83 percent.

Icahn said in December he fully supported the termination of Charif Souki as CEO of Cheniere.
