Cheniere’s Sabine Pass terminal is expected to export its first cargo of chilled gas soon with the arrival of the first tanker at the liquefaction plant located along the Sabine Pass River on the border between Texas and Louisiana.
Chevron’s Asia Vision LNG carrier, with a capacity of 160,000 cbm, docked at the Sabine Pass plant on Sunday, shipping data shows.
Cheniere’s Sabine Pass liquefaction facility will be the first of its kind to export cheap and abundant U.S. shale gas to overseas markets.
Cheniere said on Friday it has started producing LNG from the first liquefaction train at the plant with the first shipment expected late February or March.
The company is building liquefaction and export facilities at its existing Sabine Pass import terminal.
