Lithuania’s LNG terminal at the port of Klaipeda is scheduled to receive a cargo of liquefied natural gas from Norway.
Shipping data reveals that 147,980 cbm LNG carrier Arctic Princess departed Statoil’s Hammerfest facility on the island of Melkoya on February 20, and is scheduled to dock by the FSRU Independence serving as Lithuania’s LNG import terminal on February 27.
This will be the second cargo delivered to Klaipeda in a period of one week, as the Arctic Aurora delivered a shipment of LNG on February 16.
At the end of January, Lithuania renegotiated terms of the LNG supply deal with Statoil. The contract has been extended from five to 10 years while the volume Lithuania will import from Norway increased from 2.7 billion cubic meters to 3.7 bcm. Annual sales volumes will decline from 540 million cubic meters to 350 mcm as Lithuania’s gas consumption declines.
