International renewable energy company, Enel Green Power (EGP), has joined Ocean Energy Europe’s Board of Directors.

Enel Green Power is a global operator in the field of energy generation from renewable sources, with an annual production of 32 TWh.

The company is developing wave energy projects and technologies in Italy, and has also been selected, in partnership with DCNS, by the Chilean development organisation CORFO to set up an international centre of excellence on ocean energy.

Rémi Gruet , CEO Ocean Energy Europe, said: “Enel Green Power are one of the most experienced renewable energy developers in the world, and we are very pleased to see them taking a leading role in the industry. Their involvement adds to the growing credibility of the ocean energy industry as a key player in the electricity market, and puts Italy firmly on the ocean energy map.”

Ocean Energy Europe is a Brussels-based industry group representing the renewable ocean energy sector in Europe. The association acts as the main link between Europe’s ocean energy industry and the EU institutions, and EU Member States.
