Peru’s only liquefaction and export facility shipped a cargo of liquefied natural gas to Mexico.

State-owned Perupetro reveals that on Wednesday, February 24, Shell’s G class Gemmata LNG carrier with a capacity of 138,104 cbm, departed Peru’s plant at Pampa Melchorita.

This is only the second vessel to load at the facility in more than a month following a pipeline rupture and maintenance works that halted exports . Operations restarted recently when the first cargo was shipped to South Korea.

The last vessel to leave for Mexico from Peru’s facility was Sestao Knutsen LNG carrier on January 13. It delivered its cargo to the Manzanillo terminal in Colima state which is probably the final destination of the Gemmata.

With the latest vessel’s departure, the 4.4 mtpa Peru LNG plant exported 310 cargoes of liquefied natural gas since the start of operations in June 2010.
