Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) and Alberta’s Climate Change and Emissions Management Corporation (CCEMC) are providing C$40 million (∼$30 million) to help small and medium-sized businesses create green jobs, advance clean technology and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
The funding will be provided through a competitive application process led by SDTC and CCEMC, with a maximum of C$10 million provided per project.
Eligible projects include advancing pre-commercial technology for GHG reduction with a current Technology Readiness Level from 4-7, and includes prototype development, field pilots, and commercial demonstration projects.
Projects may take place anywhere in Canada, but applicants must demonstrate how the proposed project will result in GHG reductions, commercialization, enterprise growth, and economic growth in Alberta and Canada.
Navdeep Bains , Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, said: “Canada knows that clean and sustainable technology is critical for a prosperous future. The projects supported through this investment will help create the jobs of the future by advancing innovative solutions that will make our resource sectors world leaders in clean and sustainable technology and processes.”
Eligible applicants must be incorporated, operate in Canada, and have fewer than 500 employees and less than C$50 million in annual gross revenue.
The deadline for project applications is set for April 13, 2016.
