ScottishPower Renewables has chosen Great Yarmouth port as the base for the construction and installation works at the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm. The contract is worth GBP 5 million.

ScottishPower Renewables reached the final investment decision for the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm at the end of February, and will now move toward the development of the project.

In November 2015, ScottishPower Renewables agreed a £25m deal with the Port of Lowestoft to utilize it as its construction management base and the main operations and maintenance hub for the East Anglia ONE’s anticipated 30-year lifespan.

East Anglia ONE has a capacity of 714MW, enough to power the equivalent of 500,000 homes, or the majority of the households in Suffolk and Norfolk. The wind farm is expected to be put it into operation by 2020.
