Nigeria LNG recently named a liquefied natural gas carrier built by Korea’s Samsung Heavy Industries for its shipping unit, Bonny Gas Transport.

The 175,000 cbm vessel named LNG Abuja II is the fifth ship to be commissioned of the six newly acquired vessels by NLNG, the company said in a statement.

NLNG noted it is also the third vessel built by Samsung Heavy Industries on a four vessels contract, BGT signed with SHI in 2013. BGT has also signed a contract with Hyundai Heavy Industries for the remaining two LNG carriers.

LNG Abuja II is 293 meters long with a breadth of 48 meters and it was classed by Bureau Veritas.

Nigeria LNG operates the Bonny Island liquefaction and export plant able to produce a total of 22 mtpa of chilled gas.

The company’s shareholders include Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) with a 49 percent stake, Shell with a 25.6 percent stake, Total with 15 percent and Eni with a 10 percent stake.
