ClassNK, a Japan-based classification society, has named Koichi Fujiwara as Chairman and President of the society effective March 7, 2016.

Former Vice President, Fujiwara will also act as a Respresentative Director of ClassNK.

Current Executive Vice Presidents Yasushi Nakamura and Tetsuya Kinoshita will continue in their present roles on the team, joined by Junichiro Iida as Managing Director.

Tetsushi Agata has been appointed as an Executive Auditor as part of the Society’s aim to strengthen its auditing system, and Noboru Ueda has stepped down as Representative Director, Chairman and President.

Koichi Fujiwara said: “Under our new executive team, we will work to ensure stable operations and further enhance our corporate governance as required of an independent third-party organization so that the Society can continue contributing to the development of the maritime industry in the long term.”
