Offshore drilling contractor Transocean announced on Tuesday a mutual agreement with Keppel Offshore & Marine’s shipyard, Keppel FELS, to defer the delivery and related payments of five high-specification jack-ups until 2020.
According to the drilling contractor, the Super B 400 Bigfoot Class jack-up drilling rigs are now scheduled to be delivered in two and three month intervals beginning in the first quarter of 2020.
Transocean awarded a contract to Keppel FELS to build five Super B Class jack-up rigs for $1.1 billion in November 2013, with options to build up to another five similar jack-up rigs.
These first five rigs were scheduled to be delivered progressively from 1Q 2016 to 3Q 2017.
In February 2015, Transocean and Keppel agreed to delay deliveries of five rigs, Transocean Cepheus, Transocean Cassiopeia, Transocean Centaurus, Transocean Cetus and Transocean Circinus, by approximately six months each, only to postpone the delivery once more in May 2015.
