Saudi Arabia’s state-run oil and gas company, Saudi Aramco, has started producing natural gas from its Hasbah gas field located in the Arabian Gulf.
Saudi Aramco announced the field start-up on Wednesday, March 23, in its weekly magazine The Arabian Sun.
The Hasbah gas field will, together with Arabiyah field, produce 2.5 billion standard cubic feet per day of natural gas through the Wasit Gas Plant.
Khalid Al Zamil , Arabiyah and Hasbah Operations superintendent with the Northern Area Gas Producing Department, said: “It was a great opportunity to showcase our efforts and the dedication that led to the safe startup and commissioning of one of the most challenging nonassociated gas field developments.”
Saudi Aramco completed the installation of the Hasbah tie-in platform (TP) in February 2015 using its 7,500-ton crane, carrying weight that reached about 5,000 tons – which was, according to the company, its new record for heavy lift operation.
The Hasbah and Arabiyah fields are located approximately 150 kilometers northeast of Jubail Industrial City in the Arabian Gulf.
