The first training for Small Island States within the SimpleCoast initiative has just been successfully concluded.
The training has taken place in São Tomé, as a joint effort between the GFDRR (The World Bank), Deltares and with great support from the local government.
The training has involved participants of most of the organizations operating on the islands of São Tomé and Principe.
During the sessions, participants have learned some of the basics of coastal engineering and management, in combinations with hands-on training on data collection, assessment of coastal problems and design of simple engineering solutions.
The next training session will take place during the Understanding Risk Forum in Istanbul, 16-20 May 2016.
