MMT, a Sweden-based marine survey services provider, has extended the charter of multi-purpose vessel Stril Explorer to accommodate the activities in the marine renewables sector.

MMT has recently won a contract from DCNS related to the NEMO ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) project under development off Martinique, in the French Carribbean.

The project is jointly developed by DCNS and its partners with purpose to characterize the geophysical and geotechnical context of the area of an offshore power plant with a floating platform and a potential cable route to the town of Bellefontaine in the western coast of Martinique’s Island in the French Caribbean.

Under the contract, MMT was tasked with conducting the survey using the resources from the joint venture with Reach Subsea including the DP2 vessel Stril Explorer, equipped with a work class ROV that is mounted with a geophysical set up.

On March 30, 2016, MMT signed an extension of the chartered M/V Stril Explorer to continue to develop methods and services for its clients within the renewable and marine cable sectors, the company informed.

Ellen Svestad , Commercial Director at MMT, said: “Successful projects carried out by Stril Explorer with positive feedback from our clients made this selection of vessel beneficial and effective, and we are pleased to have secured her for the next projects in our portfolio.”
