Awilco Drilling, a UK based drilling contractor that owns two semi-submersible drilling rigs, has informed that the yard stay for the WilPhoenix rig is taking longer than anticipated and in the meantime the rig remains berthed at Hartlepool on zero dayrate.
The WilPhoenix semi-sub drilling rig, equipped for drilling in water depths up to 1,200 ft, was built in 1982 and upgraded in 2011.
Awilco Drilling said on Monday it was working expediently to close out the yard stay in co-operation with Apache North Sea.
The estimated total cost for the yard stay and the installation of the new BOP continues to be below the budget of $42.5 million, Awilco stated.
The rig has 22 months left under its three-year contract with Apache.
To remind, in 4Q 2015, the WilPhoenix was in continued operations for Apache North Sea until November 17 when the rig proceeded to the Able Shipyard in Hartlepool to start the five yearly renewal survey, where it remained through the end of the quarter.
The owner of the rig said in its 4Q 2015 report in February that the SPS and capital work on the WilPhoenix was substantially complete and that the rig was undergoing final project acceptance , delaying the rig’s return to operations.
Later in February, Awilco said the rig was still waiting for project acceptance before contract re-start for Apache North Sea.
