Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions (GDG) reported it has been able to offer up to 25% savings to developers and contractors by reducing the size of offshore foundations.

GDG has been developing in-house optimization procedures for monopile engineering for four years and, in recent projects, it reached significant savings on the steel weights, which translates to a substantial CAPEX cost reduction, according to the company.

Managing Director, Paul Doherty , stated: “The value engineering that we can offer to the industry is the culmination of a significant internal research effort that has undergone extensive validation and testing. Our optimization design tools, have been proven against independently commissioned field work, offshore measurements and most recently against the results of the joint-industry-funded PISA project.”

Also, the company recently expanded its offshore geotechnical design team with the addition of several experts in monopile behavior.
