MacGregor, part of Cargotec, said it has received an order to equip four LNG-powered cruise ships on order at the German shipbuilder Meyer Werft for the cruise company Carnival Corporation.
The order includes electrically-operated shell doors and electric frequency-controlled Hatlapa winches, MacGregor said in its statement on Tuesday.
The four LNG-powered cruise ships are part of Carnival’s strategic memo of understanding with Meyer Werft and Fincantieri for nine ship orders between 2019 and 2022.
Two of the cruise ships will be manufactured for AIDA Cruises at Meyer Werft’s shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, while the other two vessels will be built at Meyer Werft’s shipyard in Turku, Finland, for Costa Cruises.
Orders have been placed in July 2015, with deliveries scheduled for 2019 and 2020.
Each new cruise ship will exceed 180,000 gross tons, offering more than 2,600 passenger cabins and 5,200 lower berths to comfortably accommodate a total capacity of 6,600 guests, Carnival Corporation said last year when revealing the new orders.
