The annual All-Energy 2016 conference is putting renewable energy, including wave and tidal, in the spotlight with over 70 speakers from the sector at this year’s event to be held in May, in Glasgow.
All-Energy is held in association with the Renewable Energy Association (REA), Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Scottish Enterprise, Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG) and host city Glasgow.
The conference dedicates seven sessions to tidal and wave topics, with more in the dedicated Marine Scotland 90-minute session.
The conference programme includes industry leaders such as ScottishPower’s Keith Anderson, Jim McDonald of Strathclyde University and co-chair of the Scottish Energy Advisory Board, and keynote speakers including Atlantis Resources’ CEO Tim Cornelius, DONG Energy’s, Benj Sykes, Ronnie Quinn of The Crown Estate, Peter Fraenkel, with a specific challenge for the tidal stream industry, and many more.
Jacopo Moccia, Policy Director at Ocean Energy Europe, will give a European overview of the wave and tidal developments during ‘A snapshot of EU and global progress’ session.
All-Energy features 120 hours of presentations in its 10 parallel streams and three quick fire seminar programmes with the wave and tidal sessions accounting for over 24 of those hours, the conference organizers’ informed.
DECC and Innovate UK have also staged a special event within the conference. Their ‘Innovation Showcase’ includes pitching, networking, and a project directory as part of the wider conference agenda to help our innovators meet the marketplace, potential investors and collaborators and achieve a rapid step forward towards commercialisation.
The Carbon Trust and Scottish Enterprise, both All-Energy supporting organisations, will also be holding a special duo of sessions (one each day) on the UK Marine Enabling Technology Programmes’ results showcasing the combined outputs of the UK’s leading marine energy sector support bodies, The Carbon Trust, Scottish Enterprise, Innovate UK and the ORE Catapult.
The programmes to be covered from the last couple of years of activity include the Marine Renewables Commercialisation Fund (MRCF), the Tidal Array Cabling, Marine Energy: Supporting Array Technologies (MESAT), and the ORE Catapult’s Component Failure Analysis.
In addition to ten conference streams and three ‘quick fire’ seminar theatre programmes, All-Energy 2016 features a major exhibition with up to 400 exhibiting companies showcasing products and services from renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors.
The 16th show in the annual series will be held this year at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) on May 4 and 5, 2016.
