UK-based energy giant BP has signed a deal to supply LNG to the Indonesian power utility Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) until 2033.

Under the contract signed on Friday, BP will supply 20 cargoes of liquefied natural gas per year to PLN from the Tangguh LNG project from 2017 to 2019, Reuters reports.

In the period from 2020 to 2033, BP will up the number of cargoes per year to 44. Christina Verchere, president BP Asia Pacific noted that this is seen as a positive step in the expansion of the Tangguh Train 3 expansion.

With the recent deal, total production capacity of Tangguh’s third train has been booked, and, according to an SKKMigas official, the final investment decision (FID) for the expansion project could be expected in June.

BP has not responded to an email by LNG World News seeking more information on the matter, by the time this article was published.
