European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) has expanded its team, while making a few internal job changes.
EMEC’s team has welcomed two new Project Managers, Andy Shanks and Florence Ungaro.
Shanks previous work engagement includes managing marine operations for Tidal Generation Ltd’s 500 kW tidal turbine, and subsequently setting up and commissioning Minesto’s test site in Ireland.
Ungaro worked in China in various roles, including that of a Maintenance Engineer for a wind energy farm in Xinjiang and then for solar pumps in Beijing, prior to her acquiring a Masters Degree in marine renewable energy and completing an internship which involved designing a wave energy converter.
Working alongside new Project Managers, is Caitlin Long, Project and Consents Officer, who has been working at EMEC for the last two years on the wildlife observations analysis project.
Caitlin has now become the main point of contact for all consenting and licensing needs, EMEC informed.
Also, EMEC has named a new Technical Manager, Elaine Buck, who previously worked as Business Developer with the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult, based at EMEC.
The testing centre also welcomed Iris Hoefnagels from the Netherlands, who works as a Research Intern looking into the role of international collaborations in emerging technologies, and exploring the opportunities for co-operation between the Scottish and Dutch marine energy sectors.
Other changes include Donna Ritch being promoted to Finance Director, from her previous role as Finance and Administration Manager, and Stuart Flett, Electrical and Test Engineer, leaving EMEC to take up a new role at the Northern Lighthouse Board.
