Gator Dredging, a Florida based dredging contractor, is now at 50% completion of the muck removal from Turkey Creek, located in Palm Bay, FL.

Part of the larger Indian River Lagoon cleanup effort in Brevard County, this project involves dredging over 235,000 cubic yards of muck using an Ellicott 670 dredge called ‘Jesse Marie’.

The dredged material is being pumped to a Dredged Material Management Area (DMMA), which is owned by the Florida Inland Navigational District (FIND), located approximately 2 miles to the North of the dredge site.

Turkey Creek is home to a large number of manatees, so Gator Dredging has developed several manatee protection equipment modifications, procedures for additional safeguards, and posted two trained and certified manatee observers during night work.

Gator Dredging anticipates completing the project in 45 calendar days of dredging.
