The Maldives Transport and Construction Company (MTCC) has won a contract to build a causeway between the islands of Madaveli, Hodehdhoo and a habor in Faresmaathodaa, according to the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure of the Republic of Maldives.

The Madaveli scheme will involve the reclamation of 350 hectares of new land and is planned to complete within 300 days.

The second part of the deal, the new Faresmaathodaa harbor, includes construction of a 62 m breakwater, a 153 m concrete block quay wall and the dredging works for the existing and new harbor areas.

This work is scheduled to last 150 days, the Ministry said.

Dr. Mohamed Muizzu signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry while Mr. Ahmed Faseeh, the MTCC Deputy Chief Executive Officer, put signature on behalf of the company.
