Songa Offshore’s semi-submersible drilling rig Songa Encourage has received an Acknowledgment of Compliance from the Norwegian authorities making it the sixtieth offshore mobile facility to receive this declaration.

An acknowledgement of compliance (AoC) is a declaration the Norwegian offshore safety watchdog, the Petroleum Safety Authority, issue to express its confidence that petroleum operations can be pursued by a mobile facility in compliance with the regulations.

This means that the Songa Encourage, Songa’s third in a series of four semi-sub Cat D rigs built for Statoil, has been given a green light to operate on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

In connection with the AoC application for Songa Encourage, the PSA carried out audits within several selected disciplines.

Songa Offshore took delivery of Songa Encourage from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) in December 2015. The rig arrived from South Korea to Norway on March 15, 2016, and started drilling operations under its eight-year drilling contract with Statoil on the Norwegian continental shelf in April.
