Two ultra-deepwater drillships being built in Singapore for one of the world’s largest offshore drilling contractors, Transocean, have been delayed for the second time.

Transocean said on Tuesday that an agreement has been made with with Sembcorp Marine’s subsidiary, Jurong Shipyard, to defer the delivery and related final payments of two dynamically positioned ultra-deepwater drillships.

According to the offshore driller, the proprietary Jurong Espadon 3T designed rigs are now scheduled to be delivered during the first and third quarter of 2020.

Jurong Shipyard entered into an agreement with Transocean to build these two drillships with options for three additional units in February 2014. The delivery was initially scheduled for the second quarter of 2017 and the first quarter of 2018.

However, in June 2015 , the drilling contractor and the shipyard agreed to defer the delivery for the second quarter of 2019 and the first quarter of 2020, respectively, only to delay it once again on Tuesday.
