VBMS has been awarded a contract by E.ON for the installation of 65 inter-array cables for the Arkona offshore wind farm (OWF).
The total scope of work for VBMS will consist of route engineering, surveying, a pre-lay grapnel run, trenching, termination and testing of the 65 cables.
The cabling project is set to start in 2018, following survey activities that are scheduled for this year.
“After the successful cable installation for the Humber Gateway OWF back in 2013 and the Rampion export cable installation scheduled for this year, we’re very pleased to continue our cooperation with E.ON with this contract for Arkona OWF,” says Arno van Poppel , managing director of VBMS.
The Arkona OWF will be located in the Baltic Sea and will consist of 60 wind turbines. The energy company Statoil will have a 50 per cent stake and has been involved in the project from the start. E.ON will have responsibility for building and operating the wind farm.
