France has revealed the revised offshore renewable energy targets for 2023 setting the goal for installed marine renewable energy projects at 100 MW by 2023.

The French government’s plan includes the revised goals for offshore wind as well, setting the target of installed capacity at 3000 MW by 2023.

Also, the government expects the volume of the projects awarded by public tenders and underway in 2023 to reach 2000 MW for marine renewables, including wave and tidal, and 6000 MW for offshore wind.

Last year, France passed the green growth energy bill with the aim of diversifying the electricity generation mix, setting the goal of production from renewable energy sources at 40% by 2030.

The Syndicat des Energies Renouvelables (SER) has welcomed the government’s new investment plan, announced by Ségolène Royal, the French Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, deeming it as excellent news for renewable energy sector.
