New Montrose Bridge Linked Platform (BLP) topside, built by Heerema Fabrication Group’s Zwijndrecht yard for Talisman Sinopec, is heading to its final offshore destination in the UK sector of the North Sea.
According to information published on Thursday on Heerema’s social media, the Montrose BLP topside has started its 430 nautical mile journey to the Montrose area, located in Block 22/17, in the Central North Sea, from the Schiedam yard in The Netherlands.
As announced earlier in April by Talisman Sinopec Energy, the 10,500 tonne heavy, 75 meters long, 44 meters wide and 40 meters high topside left Heerema’s yard and started its journey towards the North Sea with a scheduled pit stop in Schiedam, west of Rotterdam, for installation and commissioning of an 80-tonne pedestal crane and the attachment of the upper sections of the exhaust stacks.
Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) is responsible for both the transportation to the offshore location and the installation on site which will be performed with HMC’s crane vessel Thialf.
The new BLP will be connected to the Montrose Alpha platform to provide additional process and plant support facilities.
Talisman Sinopec is the operator of the project with a working interest of 58.97%, and Marubeni Oil & Gas U.K. is the sole partner.
