Over 170 employees will have to go as Harkand’s European business (based in Hammersmith and Aberdeen) is to be wound down by Deloitte’s Joint Administrators, appointed on May 4, 2016.
According to Deloitte, 39 staff will be retained for a short period to assist with the wind-down of the European business.
Another, approximately 140, jobs remain at risk as the administrators hope sale can be concluded for the Harkand’s US (Houston based) and Africa business. Prior to these events, the group employed approximately 400 staff.
As earlier reported, Aberdeen-based Andrews Survey, which employees 46 staff, is not subject to insolvency proceedings, and, according to Deloitte, negotiations are ongoing with a number of parties to secure its sale.
“Whilst it is disappointing that the majority of the European business is to be wound down, we are still hopeful to be able to save a significant number of jobs in the Group’s US and Africa business, and we’re confident of securing a buyer for the Aberdeen-based Andrews Survey business,” said Ian Wormleighton , joint administrator and financial advisory partner at Deloitte.
