The Pevensey Bay Sea Defense scheme has received a Gold National Site Award from the Considerate Constructors Scheme for a third consecutive year.
The defense scheme is a 25-year project on the East Sussex coast to improve and maintain 9km long shingle embankment between Eastbourne and Bexhill-on-Sea.
The work is being carried out by Pevensey Coastal Defense Ltd, a joint venture between Boskalis Westminster, Balfour Beatty, and Mackley. The contract is the UK’s first Public Private Partnership (PPP) flood defense scheme, and a HM Treasury Pathfinder Project.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) was founded in 1997 by the construction industry to improve its image.
Construction sites, companies and suppliers voluntarily register with the Scheme and agree to abide by its Code of Considerate Practice which focuses on three main categories: the general public, the workforce and the environment.
