Sevan Marine of Norway on Tuesday said it has been awarded a follow-up study by a US oil major to continue the exploration of the use of its cylindrical hull for a specific FLNG development.
The floating units specialist informed in its statement on Tuesday that the initial study agreed in the third quarter last year has been completed, and the follow-up will focus on the marine aspects of its cylindrical design.
Sevan Marine’s cylindrical FLNG concept won the AIP from the American Bureau of Shipping in November 2014.
The concept is based on the circular and geostationary Sevan FPSO design, capable of operating in more than 3,000 m water depth and in harsh environments, such as extreme North Atlantic and cyclonic conditions.
The unit can be designed to have gas processing and liquefaction capacity of up to 4 mtpa and storage capacity of up to 240,000 cubic meters of LNG and 36,000 cubic meters of condensate, according to Sevan Marine.
